You want to ensure that you’re getting the best value for your money when considering hearing aids. Some key technologies are essential, while others may be optional based on your specific needs. Learn how you can make the most of your purchase and get the best value.
Comprehensive Hearing Assessments
Everyone who comes to Southwest Hearing Clinic for a hearing check receives a comprehensive hearing assessment conducted by a registered audiologist. This assessment includes a detailed history, thorough hearing testing, an explanation of the results, recommendations, and, if necessary, a physician report. You will leave the clinic fully informed about your hearing.
Counseling on Hearing Loss and Hearing Solutions
When you have a hearing test at our clinic, it is of the utmost importance that you leave with a clear understanding of your hearing. You should know whether your hearing is within the normal range or if there is a reduction in capacity. If there is a reduction, you will also be informed about the degree and type of hearing loss you have, as well as any hearing distortion or concerns with your eardrum or middle ear.
Furthermore, you will be provided with information on whether you need to follow up with your physician. Guidance will be offered on listening strategies because there are steps you can take to improve your understanding of conversations. Additionally, you will be informed about the suitability of modern hearing aid technology and listening accessories if they are beneficial to you.
Honesty and integrity have always been one of my top requirements. I have been a patient of Peter Slobin’s for the last 12 years and have always been treated with respect and sincerity. I feel very comfortable with Peter’s decision making skill as an audiologist.

My job entails a lot of presentation and managing of meetings and workshops. Asking people to repeat themselves was beginning to cause problems. The advice I received was first rate as I was very self conscious about my appearance and the convenience of using hearing aids. Peter’s understanding of my concerns was well appreciated. Peter does a thorough hearing test and takes the time to manipulate the hearing aid software to produce effective results. His general approach and response to the detailed requirements of the customer promotes confidence. He pays particular attention to ongoing follow-up.
– Bryan Kendrick, Surrey, BC
Assistive listening devices
In addition to hearing aids, there are numerous assistive devices on the market to help you hear better, such as amplified telephones, television listening systems, Bluetooth® receivers, wireless interactive devices, etc.. If not on hand, these devices can be ordered for you.
For Physicians
Southwest Hearing Clinic is committed to addressing your patients’ hearing healthcare needs. You will receive audiology reports that are both timely and accurate.
Our priority is your patients’ well-being, and if they are potential candidates for hearing aids, rest assured they will have ample opportunity to make informed decisions about their hearing aid fittings. If they are not satisfied, they can return their hearing aids.
We recommend direct referrals from family practitioners to our audiologists in the following situations:
- When you are confident that there are no medical contraindications.
- When you seek audiological information about your patient’s condition to plan appropriate otological follow-up.
- When you wish your patients to receive assistance with their hearing loss through the use of hearing aids.
Follow-up appointments
At Southwest Hearing Clinic, patients are closely monitored after being fitted with new hearing instruments. We schedule follow-up appointments to ensure you are getting the maximum benefit from your hearing instruments.
Batteries and accessories
Top-of–the-line hearing aid batteries are sold, to ensure that you get the longest battery life. Many other accessories are available for purchase, such as dry aid kits to keep your hearing aids dry, Oto Ease for ease of hearing aid insertion, battery caddies, and battery testers, just to name a few.
Tinnitus interview and recommendations
If you suffer from significant tinnitus, characterized by ringing in the ears, rest assured that your questions will be answered, and appropriate recommendations will be provided. These recommendations may include further follow-up appointments at our office, consideration of Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT), suggestions for medical follow-up, referrals to other specialists, or information on resources available for tinnitus sufferers.
It’s worth noting that hearing aids are often highly effective in alleviating tinnitus symptoms. Additionally, many individuals find that they adapt to their tinnitus over time, and it becomes less bothersome.
